Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine announced the first confirmed case of COVID-19 variant in Pennsylvania on Thursday.
According to ExploreJeffersonpa.com, the case is in Dauphin County and the individual tested positive after known international exposure.
According to the CDC the new variant was recognized in the UK in mid-December. Public health experts continue to study the variant and they expect the vaccines to remain effective against it and all currently available tests to detect it as COVID-19.
