Indiana County residents now have a new place to purchase sports equipment and apparel.
Officials with Dunham’s Sports held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning at the former Bon-Ton location on the Warren Road side of the Indiana Mall.

The store’s arrival was announced earlier this year, and crews have spent the spring months revamping the store to turn it from an empty department store to a fully stocked sporting goods store. Customers have been able to shop there since June 30th as the store held a soft opening to work through all the kinks and bugs in the system before the grand opening.
General Manager Justin Wilmot said the community’s response made this a “rewarding” experience.
Sherry Renosky, Indiana Mall Manager, said Dunham’s will bring in people from surrounding areas due to its size.
Indiana County Chamber of Commerce President Mark Hilliard said the store will bring both convenience and revenue to the county.
Hilliard adds that the store was five years in the making, but the end result was worth the wait.
Dunham’s Sports is owned by Dunham’s Athlesiure Corporation and started out as a bait and tackle store in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan in 1937. It has expanded to 240 stores primarily in the Midwest and Southeast United States.
Store hours are Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tomorrow, the first 50 people who make a purchase will receive a Dunham’s Sports® t-shirt. And the first 50 people to make a purchase on Sunday will receive a Dunham’s Sports® baseball cap.
