A little over a month ago, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring at Gobbler’s Knob. On Wednesday, he got a surprise that not even he could have predicted.
Members of Punxsutawney Groundhog Club announced on Instagram that Phil and his wife Phyllis welcomed two baby groundhogs and they can be viewed at Phil’s climate-controlled home inside the Punxsutawney Memorial Library. It marks their first offspring in 138 years.
The discovery of the babies came after a member of the Club went to the exhibit to provide Phil and Phyllis with fresh produce, but they called it “a delightful surprise.”
