A former Jefferson County Commissioner, 70 year old, Herbert Bullers Jr., is facing a theft charge for allegedly scrapping county property and keeping the proceeds.
According to a press release, authorities say that in late 2022, Bullers, had a contractor load scrap chain-link fencing from the Jefferson County Jail onto his vehicle. He then reportedly sold the metal for $250 but did not donate the funds as promised.
Court records show Bullers is charged with a misdemeanor for theft of secondary metal.
