The Penguins announced yesterday that they re-signed forward Valtteri Puustinen to a one-year deal. The two-way contract is worth $775,000 at the NHL level. The 24-year-old spent last season with the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins and scored 24 goals and had 59 points in 72 games. He was originally taken in the seventh round of the 2019 draft.
The Penguins yesterday also announced their prospect development camp will take place July 1-3 at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry. A total of 23 prospects will attend camp, comprising of 12 forwards, seven defensemen, and four goaltenders.
Among attendees will be 2022 first-round pick Owen Pickering. He led the Swift Current Broncos with 45 points in the 2022-23 season and debuted with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins late in the season, playing in eight games.
