Legendary baseball broadcaster Bob Uecker died Thursday at the age of 90, according to a statement from the team.
Uecker began his longtime run as the voice of his hometown Milwaukee Brewers in 1971. Uecker was a popular figure in the entertainment industry, making numerous appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and starring as Harry Doyle in the Major League film series.
“Mr. Baseball,” as he was known, won the Ford C. Frick Award in 2003, honoring the top analyst in baseball. Uecker was also elected to the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame, Radio Hall of Fame, National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame, and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
