Farmers in Pennsylvania are being encouraged to apply for state grants aimed at ensuring the future sustainability of family’s farm.
The Farm Vitality Grant Program is aimed a making sure a farm remains operational between planting seasons, and as it passes from one generation to another. The funds, part of the 2021 Pennsylvania Farm Bill, can also be used to seek expertise in long-term business planning.
The first round was awarded to 133 farms in 46 counties. State Agriculture officials say more than $700,000 is still available. Farmers and prospective farmers are eligible for up to $7,500 which can cover no more than 75 percent of a project’s cost.
